That's quite a big challenge but hey your dragon art looks really good ^^ I'll give you them :)

You have until 14th May to complete them both.

Thanks! Do they have to be in-scale? :)
FuninightmareShow's avatar
Aye though I think it will be extremely difficult with Ancalagon both dragons can be in any scale as long as it's above 500 pixels. Ultimately I will work out the full scale for every character in the final mural so all I can say is do your best you can.

P. S. could I get a little prolongation to work on Ancalagon?

The image is 3500 by 1500 px but there's a slighly larger version (about 4000 px) if necessary. Hope I'll be able to get Ancalagon finished on time - do not have much time to draw, actually.

P. S. can I also post b/w pencil versions on my album after the collab is complete?
FuninightmareShow's avatar
I'll be able mark you down for finished tomorrow also you can have an extension for Ancalagan. 2 weeks after the deadline but let me know if you need more time it is a very very big dragon After all. Also I am using my phone so part of your message is hidden, am I assuming right that you wish to make a pencil version just for your own account? If that's right then yes you can.

Can I consider 5'th of June as a deadline for Ancalagon as I've mentioned in the earlier post?
FuninightmareShow's avatar
Yes sorry I wasn't expecting to reply to that. 5th June is your deadline for Ancalagon.
Hoch-Spannung's avatar
Thanks! That's very kind on your side. A safest bet for me would be to put the 5'th of June as a deadline for Ancalagon: I'm having a scientific conference soon and alot of work to do so it's likely that I won't be able to work on him for more that a couple of evenings untill the end of May, and I don't feel like presenting a rushed work. Maybe I'll be able to get him done much sooner than the end of May but I can't firmly guarantee that.

As for the pencil versions, my technique for this is the following: I draw an initial pencil sketch, then scan it and add all the color and color-related details in GIMP. I'd like to add background to the initial sketch and have it as a stand-alone b/w piece.

P. S. uploaded a larger-resolution image for Glaurung (4400x1900) just in case.

I wish you luck at the Conference and with Ancalagon.

I've been trying a similar techique with rough pencil sketches and then I upload it to GIMP and add some shadings and coloud or Backgrounds I'm currently working on just backgrounds since I need to design a lot of them for when the collab comes to an end. Can I just say the fact that you're using GIMP and making such wonderful pieces like Glaurung astounds me since GIMP is not a very good program, I commend you my good man.

Hi! I'm very sorry but could I have a couple more days for Ancalagon (say, till furthday or friday)? I know it's beyond all schedules but I hadn't much time and he turned out just huge (takes up 4 A3 paper sheets and a 20x14k raw image file after scanning and putting together). View "as is":

Thanks! Ancalagon is alot of work to do.

As for GIMP, on my level of experience I haven't noticed any critical differences from Photoshop (CS2). It's noteworthy, however, that while the interface is principally the same there are differences that you have to get used to. The biggest difference for me was in layers. I've managed to handle all the same functionality that I used in Photoshop but it not as comfortable to use. GIMP is also a bit laggy at times. And I still don't know if there are drivers to get all features of the graphic tablet to work (but that's just because I mostly practice with pencils and don't have a big need to use the tablet other than for some minor editing).
