Scientifically speaking, its actually closer to magenta, blue and red light mixed together, with a little bit of green light added in varying ammounts, like, R:255 G:200 B:255 would get a very light pink, whereas R:255 G:0 B:255 would make an almost neon, bright, heavy pink.
