Lovely comic, I like seeing Octa squirm in Ash's tentacles hehe

Speaking of tentacles, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the inkling's "hair" supposed to be their tentacles? And if so, how does Ash have three in his "do" when squid only have two? Is he wearing a squid toupee? Or, being made of sentient ink, can they make however many tentacles they want? I've never played the game myself, so I'm not sure how it all really works. Forgive me if this is a dumb question, or if you've already answered it elsewhere.
