Well. I watched "The Big Sleep" years before I ever read the book, so Bogart comes to mind when I read Chandler's books, and so does Bacall as well.  I like to reread them from time to time.  When I was young I read a lot of Chandler, Mickey Spillane, and John D McDonald- Travis McGee was his main detective.

I also read A lot of Gardner aka A.A. Fair, and Rex Stout.  I think of all the books I read then; Nero Wolfe was my favorite detective.  Well outside of Holmes you know.

The first author I ever read to any degree was Carolyn Keene,  )I practically cut my teeth on Nancy Drew)  and so of course I think that set me on the mystery path for life.   I gravitate to them.  I have also probably read everything that Agatha Christie ever published.

Wow, you really got into detective fiction. All of mine are from the movies.

Speaking of which, Dashiell Hammett’s “The Maltese Falcon” with Bogie
deserves special mention. Aside from the stellar cast, it was John Huston’s
directorial debut. “It’s the stuff that dreams are made of.”

Yes, I did, and still do.  I loved "The Maltese Falcon"  Just never cared for the lead actress, Mary Astor.  Of course Peter Lorre and Sydney Greenstreet; such good bad guys!  I  am a Bogart fan.  Did you doubt?
  One of my favorites is "Dark Passage"  Of course "Casablanca" is near the top of the list.  "The Caine Mutiny"    and "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" is another favorite of mine with him in it.
Number one in my list is "To Have and Have Not"  Loved Walter Brennan as well.  Great character actor!

Another great Bogart movie is "Sabrina".

A great list of Bogie pictures.

Let us not forget “The African Queen” with Katherine Hepburn.
Bogart’s only Best Actor Oscar, and another Huston picture. :-)

Strangely enough, "The Philadelphia Story" is not one of the movies that I have ever watched.  I will have to check it out.  I just looked and they have it at youtube to watch.  Hmm will check it out tomorrow.
