Depth is subjective, dude.

But character morality and sympathy is not.

Sympathy actually is. Morality also is in a sense, but here is something you need to think about. Did Sydney REALLY do anything amoral? I went though all her appearances again and, aside from taking the hall monitor job too seriously, she really didn't cause any harm beyond just doing her duty. She could have been a little less cranky, but one can attribute that to the stress she was in at the time. The rat avalanche? She was protecting her family, and she DID apologize for that. And what do you "visibly communicate that she ment it?" She said sorry, her expression showed her sincere guilt and there was no hint of dishonesty, physical or verbal. Is there any more that's really need?

Also, there is nothing superficial about anything that occurred in the ending. No one got harmed in the event, any possibilities missunderstandings were explained using established events or flashbacks, and no one's character was altered or broken to make the ending possible. As stated before, Sydney didn't really do anything to cause future misgivings and no one got hurt, so no one should hold anything against her. That would be OOC in comparison to what has been established.

Don’t get me wrong, you are entitled to your opinion and if you don't like the storyline's conclusion, fine. There are a few areas that could be improved. I wished we had more time with Sydney to better explore what it is she was going through and at at least established what she is like outside the hall monitor role. Like saying that she is stern and driven to complete whatever task is given, but does have a softer side, like caring for class pets or something along those lines. That said, people liking it doesn't mean they are blind or willfully ignore those flaws. In me and Rhuen1 case, we don’t see where the flaws you speak of ever came up.

Your response is well thought-out, and rather polite. Thanks for doing so. Usually, whenever I say something, I'm almost immediately shot down by hardcore fans.

I find that an argument comes across better when it's polite and thought out. Takes more time, but it keeps the heat down.

Anyways, thanks for the compliment.

Thanks. I'm always treated so harshly. Your politeness is well-appreciated.
