I'm sorry I can't give a critique like you requested, but maybe the compliments will help you recognize what you want to maintain or trying something funky with. I just LOVE
the motion of both characters, the left is just ready to slice and the right just screams so much energy. It's AWESOME! The colouring is wonderfully crisp and clean, and I like the way you don't use too many colours to overwhelm the piece. I also like how you chose uneven lines for the borders that contain the characters. It makes the piece much more fun to look at, showing that they're not maintained by straight lines. Whoo! 
It's a great piece, ~StrayShadow and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
