Some people have been asking me about this stuff so I decided to gather all information in one single article on how to make your own portfolio, in a profesional and clean looking way. I hope it's useful, because these steps I myself take.

Seeing just how much thought and detail you put into his design is so coooool~~
I really loved the strings = security idea, and him tying and untying the knot when he's bored :3
I think the best thing about this picture is how he's got such a haunted kind of look in his eyes, but the bear-trap looks like a big evil grin <3

I really suck at making character designs, but luckily, this one actually turned out.
Omg. Way to go on in-depth character design/descriptions. Good fun.
And what does my OC do... doesn't talk, refuses to introduce himself...just sits and laughs at me. XD

I love spotting the little bits of you in him, too ^_^
I really don't think he needs a background or the more 'dynamic' angle you were lamenting. As a character design/portrait, the focus needs to be 100% on Ious. Now that you've gotten that out of the way, Now You can give him pretty backgrounds or action shots or whatever.

Yeah, little bits of me... Heh. Like the fact that I HATE walking on wet grass with my bare feet... the feeling of it is like... so, WEIRD!!! And his anatomy... well, he has long legs, except for you can't see it too well 'cause he's sagging his pants. Trendy bastard, he is. XD
Well Kato seems to be the chill type to begin with. He'll come around.
That, and the stars. He just makes me smile every time. ^_^
Baah. Kato got bored with me and wandered off somewhere....Don't really know where he got off too... DX
