Makes sense. Why did he get the tattoos? Perhaps to disguise horrific swordfight-scars? Or did he just move out of his parents' house? (...Or mansion, or estate, I don't know how rich those Capulets were.)

Probably got them in a rebellious phase at college, to distinguish himself. (From what, exactly, is anyone's guess.) And, of course, to annoy his parents back on the estate. (Now that you've mentioned it, they probably are that rich.)
