Oh, well if you can find the right people to play them with, they are well worth at least one try. If you have Skype or IM it could be possible to play them through that as long as both/all players have the source books.

Well, the best two that I know of are Dungeons & Dragons and BESM d20, but if you like anime, besm d20 would be best. 
Only problem with besm is that the core source book costs (usually) $50 online and it is hard to find any where else.
