One thing I could tell you (if you are using Photoshop but not a tablet) is use the following tools-
Brush tools, hard for filling in color, soft and medium opacity for shading.
Smudge tools- smooth out your stuff really nicely.
Avoid using the Burn and Dodge tools for skin.
Lots of Layers until you are like, really used to it. Like really used to it.
