i don't cast any of my pieces, not even the bronze. Silicon bronze can be forge worked. Although you don't want to use a coal forge with bronze. Gas forge would be best. The metal is heat sensitive. Bring it up to a dark blood red color, no more and you can hammer it out or what ever. With sheet bronze it works a lot like copper and needs to be heated to be softened ...it becomes work hardened.... the last time i cast anything i was in high school making rings from lost wax..... a long...... long....... long time ago....

maybe you are getting it too hot. My first attempts at forging bronze, it literally disintegrated because i treated it like steel. Try again, get it only up to a dark blood red. if you get it hotter than that, wait for it to cool down a bit before you hammer it. once it's hot, work it. it doesn't have to appear hot. make sure you reheat it in the same way after you have hammered on it because it becomes work hardened...copper is the same way. don't get it too hot...that's the key.

Oh, that is lovely, and very elegant! I am always fond of cobalt glass, but your design really adds to it. Have you ever thought of making something like the fireplace-tree, but smaller, for jewelry, hanging beads and rings on, etc?
i've thought of making another organic vase incorporating beads to the piece...i even purchased the beads...just haven't gotten to use them yet. jewelry, love to wear it, but not sure i want to make it.

No, I meant make a simple but elegant unadorned tree, like the one for hanging the fire-tools on, but a bit smaller. One that could be kept on your dresser, to hang your necklaces, and rings on. Does that make more sense?
Some people have been asking me about this stuff so I decided to gather all information in one single article on how to make your own portfolio, in a profesional and clean looking way. I hope it's useful, because these steps I myself take.
