OOoo really pretty 
I have to admit that the girl on the right looks a lil like Amy Lee from Evanescence (a lil anyway LOL) I like the guy and I think your worrying about nothing .. your winging it (as you put it) really came off well I know you may not have any reference apart from fantasy drawings on the internet or the like but this really does work well the proportions are really cool and the collar/hair really does work
