The thing I first noticed was that the lighting effects and forms create the illusion of the sphere being irregular and imperfect, which it obviously isn't.

Thanks - initially I was going for the shape inside the sphere to bulge out - to make a dent, but failed miserably 
and after thinking about it I decided this looked nice too
