Transformers: Animated has got to be the best Transformers cartoon EVER. EVER.
Even the U.S. G1 series didn't have pretenders!

I certainly hope we see more pretenders(in their actual "Crunchy outside, robot nougat inside" sense) in TF:A, but even if we don't, this series still kicks ass.

YES! pretender animated! love it!

Apparently these guys origins are from Meltdown who believes Organics are better than Robots. So he was trying to make a transforming/shapeshifting human. And these guys were 'failures' who are probably going to be meltdown henchmen from this point on. I would love to see more of these two guys and more pretenders in general.

I will see what I can do about back shots. For the most part they were not shown clearly on screen that much. The only thing is the other arm/shoulder of both of them has more detail. Submaurader has a hermit crab Shell and Bomb Burst has like an area the black wings are stapled too.

Yeah, they are very close but it looks like they have some parts from other pretenders:

Also it appears like Octopunch was ground up and added to both as he was an octopus/crab: [link]

And finally Colossus Roads appears to be very similar to Stranglehold in character. They are both wrestlers in origin and have that funky moustache: [link]

So We may be seeing Meltdown's "faction" is going to be humans upgraded to pretender/monster status. Maybe his role is to be Bludgeon? He has a skull-like face.

Yes, Pretender monsters do need more love and recognition. I giggled like a school girl when I saw Bomb-Burst and Submarauder in Animated, finally an homage that isn't of one of the over-used and over-done 1984 g1 TFs...
