lol lol
I talked with a professional photographer at an art fair over the weekend. She verified that digital is really all that's out there now.

Great shot! I'm really big on repetition of patterns, so I just love this kind of thing. :)

Thanks! I've had a time trying to get it reasonably enlarged. Apparently there's no such thing as optical enlargement anymore. Everything is digital. It's mad!

You're absolutely right, and it's a shame. The old darkroom days with an enlarger that you could extend to the ceiling are slowly going the way of the dinosaur. I used to do a lot of darkroom work, but I imagine it would be difficult even to find the chemicals these days. :(

It's a shame. At least the guys at the photo shop gave me a straight answer instead of just going on about how "wonderful" the digital machines are. They aren't. These guys had obviously been in the industry a long time. They said the only place you run into film enlargers any more is in schools. .... which makes me wonder about it being taught. That just automatically ensinuates that the students will have the wherewithall to make their own personal darkrooms when they graduate.

I was just lamenting the demise of the darkroom today to someone who's interested in photography. I guess people like the convenience and lower cost of digital, but I also think you lose a lot of the hands-on control. But that's just me - I like to complain about digital because I still can't take decent pictures with a 35mm camera. :D
