Might I dare to make a suggestion though. You can take it or leave it, afterall, I am still learning. I think if you increase your values, especially increasing the darks, and have a greater range of values, it will make your pictures POP more and look more 3-d. It took me about three years of advice and nagging from other very talented professionals before I had the guts to really use my darks. Now I really see the difference, although sometimes still fall short in that area.
If you know how to put a picture of your drawing into a graphic program such as Paint Shop Pro or photoshop, and then grayscale it (or make it black & white), you'll see what I mean. It really reveals the range of values in a picture.
Thanks Nancy! My scanner doesn't work very well, so colors and values aren't what they appear in the image. Each piece I do, kind of depends on what I am looking for, as far as values go. With this particular piece I wanted a softer touch. I think it's my style though. I don't go for the real darks like other cp artists. I do once in a while Thanks for the input though!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
