I always worry that if I make a bead on the end, it may never come off.

I love your designs on these, they go well with the shape.

Add two little handles on each side and they'd be awesome amphorae.

And yeah, just on the tip of the mandrel. One of them didn't come off. But I"llmake sure the tip is really covered next time.

I was loving the marble mold that night

Marble molds are fun. Presses are fun too. I've just bought a small lentil press. It's really cool and makes some neatly shaped beads. They're more prone to thermal shock but boy are they slick. If I leave the thermal lines on the glass after pressing it, the beads look just like lima beans.



One of them didn't come off.

How long did you soak it in cold water for?

With my bone-shaped beads, since they're so long they need to soak in water for a good 4 hours before the bead release is sufficiently disintegrated enough to allow the bead to slide off of the mandrel.

If you still have it, try soaking your stuck bead in cold water for a few hours. The cold makes the glass and the metal shrink slightly more than they do at room temperature, and the water obviously disintegrates the release. It's worth a shot.


So what have you decided to do about stoppers for these vessels? I've seen some tiny rubber stoppers and corks for sale at several craft shops that might work quite well.
