Comment on Losing Faith by `sya [parent]

I agree with you, completely. In the piece, I tried to symbolize the breaking away of old beliefs, that dark, mysterious and gothic belief structure (the roots) and the superstitions. In the center, the focus is drawn to the illuminating light of (interpret for ones self) knowledge, self-awareness, truth, reason.

I have had a very difficult time coming out to my fundamentalist Christian family as an atheist and had to cut ties with many of them which has definitely been the hardest part of losing my faith. I sometimes think I would like to reunite with some of them, but they have no respect for me since they think I am going to hell. This causes them to assume to know better than me how to raise my children and have them baptized behind my back. They expect me to lie and be someone I am not when I'm around them and that's something that I'm not willing to do just for the sake of keeping the peace.

Very nice. <----I mean to say more than that but cant find the right words. Its amazing!!
nice piece of artwork. Losing faith, however, doesnt have to be a dark and lone experience. Quite the opposite, in fact, it can be intensely gratifying and beautiful to wake up from the cloudy dream of faith and be able to see life for what it really is. Not some mystery of faith, but a gorgeous cacophony of chaotic joy and sadness, death and growth and things far beyond the scope of our imaginations. On one tiny rock, in one tiny solar system in a nearly infinite universe thats just one of an infinite number of multiverses [[link] its amazing anyone can presume to know the will of god.

Anyway, if you want to talk about it more, i'd be happy to. I've been in the same position and know exactly what its like =)

I think that the "universe" is truly more complex than many think ... perhaps nature is ordered chaos...
That is seriously cool, and I'm very happy to be a part of this piece! I've gone through the same thing and yeah, it's really liberating, isn't it?

This piece speaks to me, in a very powerful and personal way. I would love to see it as a print.
