Sometimes it’s a choice between squinty eyes or shadows. Since there is no action involved you can afford a slower shutter speed so open shade might work just be careful of the back light. Some type of reflected light might help.
I actually like the shadows on her face, it makes you really focus in on her beauty (which I think gets flattened out sometimes with studio/perfect lighting) I remember I went to a location shoot with Justin when we were first dating and being a film student I was freaking out about the shadows and not having a reflector and such, but he wasn't worried one bit, and those turned out to be some of the best shots I have of myself
