I was also in a long distance relationship once a number of years ago--and I was the one who eventually broke it off all for the better.
But I can definately imagine your pain :9 it's never easy to part ways with someone you have such emotional attatchment to.

It'll hurt for a while, it really will. But eventually, if you all cared for eachother, like you obviously did, friendship will possibly rekindle.
For the longest time I thought I could never look at or talk to my ex. However, today I actually drove to his house to drop off a disc he asked me for.
It just takes time <3
