Tried that, didn't work. It's a piece of plastc held onto the pony with glue and a knob on the inside. Any way to melt the glue, maybe?

Maybe. Or you could pop the cutie mark off and maybe put some air dry clay or something over it? model magic might work or maybe a plastic based clay.
