Strangely, I'm not a fan of JuudaixYubel, yet I LOVE HaouxYubel. Which makes no sense, because they're the same person. >>;; But I guess opinions don't have to make sense....

Anyway, I love the way this looks. The hands look so delicate and the entire compostion just gives off this vibe of gentle evilness. I love it. <3

...say, you wouldn't happen to like HaouxJuudai, would you?

XD Sometimes shipping preferences can be weird. They change a lot, though, I've found, based on what you immerse yourself in.

Haou/Juudai is okay. I like it most of the time, and sometimes I get in a mood for it. I don't love it, though, and I'm slightly less fond of it because it's very, very fanon, but there are ways it can be done, and I've seen them done, so yeah, it's cool with me. Like, if you made an AU in which Juudai's Haou persona never really "fuses" back into Juudai's personality, or set the pairing during the time in which they could be considered two different beings. Or even a total AU or something (though I must admit I'm not especially fond of the whole "Haou and Juudai are twins" AUs, usually; exceptions are rare but possible).

I have this mental picture of Haou being all protective and comforting to Juudai inside his mind because he just can't handle the emotional trauma that killing his friends brought upon him, and Haou is Juudai, so therefore, you're going to want to protect yourself from any further hurt... as well as for pairing reasons, in a way.

...I just went all long-winded on you, didn't I. Sorry about that. XD I guess the bottom line is that yeah, I like it, I just don't love it.

Sorry if I am being random but...
Wow. You really support AU's? That's great, because I know of certain fanfic writer that doesn't and it irks me a lot.
angelduelist153's avatar
Hm, that does make sense. For some reason, I've come to be fond of that paticular pairing. I suppose it's because I love the conflict; the whole struggle between light and dark; good and evil; right and wrong. It's cheesy, but it's something enjoy. Also, it's less likely to be written about in a very fluffy way, or at least, it seems like it would be. Since there's so little interaction between the two in the show, I feel that it leaves a lot to the imagination and thus kills the typical cliche situations. There's a lot of information you could make up and add in. I dunno, it just leaves a door open for an awesome plot. I myself can't write, but I can see the potential.

While I am a firm believer that Haou and Juudai are the same person, I still tend to portray them as more or less parts of each other than anything else. It's really not a logical or canon pairing at all, but I like it all the same. Actually, when you think about it, it's damn near impossible to write about that particular pairing while keeping them in-character or staying with canon. I'm not sure anyone really knows Haou's character. Still, that makes it more challenging and leaves a lot to get creative with.

You know, some pairings I dislike simply because of the fandom. For example, JuudaixAsuka is a pairing I somewhat like, but I'm not exactly in love with the fandom. Also, the JohanxJuudai fandom is suffering terribly from badfics. ><

LOL, it's ok. I just did it to you. ^^; Sorry...this is a subject I can really rant about. :XD:

Yeah, though I think the "light and dark" struggle is present in Yubel/Juudai as well, in a slightly different way. And you're right, it does have a lot of potential in the hands of the right person.

Yeah, it's 100% fanon, to be honest, but that doesn't stop a lot of people. XD Myself included, I guess. Haou was so poorly touched upon in the series, admittedly, and got so little screen time that he's very open to interpretation in a lot of ways, which is admittedly a good thing for fanfic writers and even roleplayers.

Oh god, I so agree with you on Juudai/Asuka. I'm not nearly as big on it as I used to be, but the fandom makes me cringe in terror the way they write it. I've yet to see more than three decent JuuAsu fics as a whole. Same with a large portion of the Johan/Juudai fandom... the ones that write terrible badfic/AUs, anyway.

Hey, I endorse intelligent discussion on my comment pages. S'no problem. 8Db

...you know what I'd love to read? A story with a PLOT. Not a fwuffy oneshot, not some emo crap 'deep' introspective fic, but a an actual story with actual events. You can definitely include fluff and introspect in something like that, so I don't see why people write solely oneshots around these two subjects (except for laziness. Oh hell, I know how that is. :XD: Which is why I, the giant hypocrite, have a profile filled with fluffy oneshots and 'crackfics'. *headdesk* I'll write something better one of these days...). I really miss reading stuff like that. Fanfiction just isn't interesting anymore, you know?

There are so many different interpretations on each character that I'm not sure how to make them behave. I really don't know what's in-character anymore, since there are so many different opinions. That's one thing that makes me very reluctant to write -- worrying about canon and characterization and such. I'd really like to become a good writer one of these days, but truthfully I'm too afraid of making mistakes. Meh, well, I'll have to overcome that. I can learn from them, after all. XD

Spiritshipping....oh where can I start? The lemons are the worst. XD I think OOCness is more present in spirishipping fics (which could quite possibly be b/c there are more spiritshipping fics than much else) than most others. Ironic, I think, because the thought of them getting together doesn't seem to be an entirely crazy or way OOC thing. In fact, it's probably the most likely pairing in GX. But the fans have ruined that. >< It's a scary, scary thing -- fanfiction.

Question: How do you, personally, interpret Haou's character?

Intelligent? XD That word does not describe me. XDDD But all the same, glad you don't mind. :D

I'm writing a story with what I hope has a plot (and will include a porn chapter at some point, I hope -- no, seriously), but it's only two chapters in, ehehe. It's a total AU... pirate-fic. XD That probably sounds familiar due to the previous pirate-designs I did a little while ago.

Indeed, Spiritshipping gets the brunt of badfiction because it's so popular -- and yet, you're absolutely right, it's so difficult to screw up, being one of the most easy-to-write pairings in the entire fandom based on the insanely positive chemistry between the two participants. But somehow, fanbrats manage.

I personally think Haou's very difficult to pin down character-wise. He honestly thinks he's doing the right thing, killing people for Super Fusion, and can justify it in his mind, and to him, that's all that matters, even if he can't justify it to other people. He can be cold and calculating, distant and impersonal, as well as unpredictable in his behavior at times, and could probably go from perfectly docile to livid and violent in a flash. Most importantly, he's trying to close himself off for the sole reason of preventing what happened to his friends from happening to anyone around him ever again -- hence why he tries not to make personal connections with anyone. Even if that reason can be seen under other guises (he kills to be evil and learn what evil is, to fulfill himself, etc.), he thinks it's entirely right and just for him to sacrifice people who either A) are like Brron and would try to hurt others in the way Brron hurt everyone else (which is a bit comparable to Edo, in a way) or B) would've died at his hands anyway, because he believes anyone who gets close to him will become hurt in the end, even if he claims the friendships of others just drag him down.

It's... kinda complex. I can't believe I actually managed to describe that. XD

Oh, pfft, this conversation is plenty intelligent. Don't be so modest. :P Fangirls can be smart AND fangirlish at the same time, seriously!
angelduelist153's avatar
Ah, we all love porn chapters, don't we? :D XD For some reason porn chapters appeal to me more than porn oneshots, probably because in a chapter story the characters have had time for a relationship to develop and it's not just some lustful thing a desperate fangirl wrote. Of course, that's not to say I don't read the oneshots. =P

Pirates...sounds interesting. What's the story about other than pirates? :D That's definitely a lot more creative than most of the other stories. I liked those pictures, btw. =3

Wow, you sound like you really know him! That sounds about right, actually. From the little we've seen anyway. Now that I think about it, he does seem like a sincere but unstable character (the dub ruined that...made him seem totally evil. Well, at least it acknowledged that they were the same person). And although he's typically considered strong, I think he somewhat resembles Juudai's weaker half, emotionally speaking. And perhaps he's all the things Juudai's been holding in through the years. I could almost even call him Juudai gone crazy, b/c that's sort of what happened there. He lost his mind and made poor decisions. Hm, that makes things easier. Perhaps I'll use some of that interpretation the next time I write about him. He sounds like a very interesting character to work with, though I'm not sure if I'm ready to write about someone so complicated. ^^; Also, I'm a bit confused about the whole past life and rebirth-whatever-it-was thing. :XD: I'm...not entirely sure what happened. >< Does that mean Juudai is as old as Haou, since they are the same person? Did the side of Juudai we see today always exist or....*head spins* Never mind. I can't put it into words. I'm not good at putting concepts I can grasp in my mind into coherent sentences. Which is why I do a lot more drawing than writing. XD

Random but...who is currently your fave character in GX?
qu-ko's avatar
Late reply is late.

It's about... Juudai, Johan, and Yubel. And a LOVE TRIANGLE, ohgodnotoneofthose. There's other GX characters in it... but you don't really get to find out who (sans Daito) until later chapters. :3

Yeah, he's a pretty complex and open-to-interpretation character. XD Drawing is easier in that sense because you don't have to make elaborate plans and know your subject's head inside and out, or at least pass yourself off as such.

Hmm... I always did suck at choosing favorites. I'm going to take the easy way out and say a three-way tie between Juudai, Yubel, and Johan. (But I love them all, seriously.)
