I'm no romantic, but I also don't get all the negativity by single people who complain that it's rubbing it in, that it's too commercial, that you don't need a day to tell someone you love them. Well, if you were happy being single, people parading around wouldn't faze you, right? And if you're not happy, well, they didn't get their dates by sitting around. Every holiday is commercial, Is that so bad? Chocolate roses, those icky message hearts that end up eaten anyway, the tv-character valentines they give out in elementary school, raiding your little sibling's bag of candy they bring home. Commercial things catch on because thye're fun, and worth the money. And, you don't need a day to celebrate someone's life, or practice your preferred religion, or celebrate the year, or the season, or an important historical figure. But we have holidays, because we can't go all out every day.

So I suppose I'm apathetic. I'm not a sourpuss, but you wouldn't see me with a heart-shaped box of chocolates and a stuffed puppy for my love nugget.
