This isn't a matter of conventions, really, sexual predators shouldn't be tolerated anywhere.
I believe that conventions do need to have a zero tolerance for the sexual predators and perverts who go 'too far'. People need to stop with the excuses 'She was asking for it, wearing that skimpy cosplay', 'It was just a joke to do with the anime', etc. I have stopped going to Supanova simply for the amount of men who disrespect female cosplayers and the personal experiences I've had with these sorts. Last year my behind was grabbed twice, and my friend and I had to hear sick perverted comments directed at us from a group of men tailing us. We left straight away. Especially in the big conventions where staff and security are low, I've heard this happens a lot. It's sad that we as young women and as cosplayers can't feel safe at some conventions. Event organisers really need to up their policies on perverts and photography, and seriously need security all around the venue instead of just at the door.
