boothh, usually... I mean it's pretty much all indie music or 50s-60s rock so the lyrics and tune are both pretty great

8D;;;;;;;;;; I mostly only listen to the tune. It's rare I actually pay attention to the lyrics, and as a result, there's a lot of really bizarre stuff on my playlists <_<

Both for me, although it's usually the tune.
I've been listening to Pink Floyd lately, and some of their songs have some pretty amazing lyrics. :O

I like fun songs with fun lyrics and pretty songs with pretty lyrics BD But it has to have both, 'cause if it has good lyrics I wouldn't know 'cause I'd get bored of it >__>;
so... I picked both, but the tune is more important then the lyrics.

I usually listen to the tune.. I even think of the lyrics as a tune, a musical instrument in themselves. There are songs where the lyrics move me, and I do listen to them, and I am always discovering "new" lyrics in songs I've known forever.

But yeah.. the tune. My playlists are really bizzarre by most standards ;)

First: The tune
Second: The associations I have with it

So I'll listen to something with awful lyrics because I like the tune and/or I have nostalgic feelings about it. As a result, the art I draw when listening to songs rarely had anything to do with what they're actually about...

Depends on the band/song for me :gallery:

Bands like Tool, Pink Floyd, Metallica, etc I listen to both the lyrics and the instruments.

Then there are bands like The Offspring, KMFDM, Gravity Kills, where I mostly just care about the tunes rather than lyrics :D

Surprisingly I can't really think of any bands where I only care about the lyrics ^^;

It's usually one or the other for me. Some songs I dislike at first, but the lyrics are really interesting to me and so I get used to the music itself and sort of "learn to like it" over time. But most of the time I like songs because of the tune. I'm really into music that feels fast paced and energetic. Stuff that makes me want to run or shoot something, haha, so I'm mostly into rock, alternative, "some" metal, techno, etc..

Soft songs have to have REALLY good lyrics for me to get into them at all.
