Well I have both but I use the Bamboo one mostly, I do everything with that now, coloring and line art. It's a bit long to "master" but when you have, you can't draw without it^^
I use Open Canvas 1.1 (free) because it's more easy to have a fluid line and it's quite low in memory too.
I have a Bamboo fun. has one, and it seems really great for the both of us. However, when I use it, the lineart can be a little shaky. I use the Pen tool when doing lineart, but whether you want to use it for outlining or not is entirely up to you.
Now I use the Tablet the most for coloring and shading, and this is where it gets really cool. When shading with the tablet, pen pressure is a given. For example, if you wanted to make the shading more soft, shade lightly with the pen. Vice versa if you want more of a hard shade. XP
There are quite a few tutorials of Tablets on dA IIRC. I'm just giving you the basics.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
