Is culture the result of evolution?- my bio project.

so what is culture?
-this is what i got as a definition.
*Patterns of human activity and the symbolic structures that give such activities significance and importance.

but what is significant- what makes humans important?
is it the activity that seperates us from being 'animals'

i searched humans on wikipedia and it says we're unqiue because of things like religion and science etc..

but do animals have religion?- arn't bees being scientific by just building a beehive?

are we significant because we have 'minds'- what is a 'mind'-- do we have them because of the structure of our brains (eg. v large cerebellum)-- or is it emplaced by something else?- a soul?

do animals have culture?

would culture help us survive?- is culture passed down and created through evolution?

yea.. quite a tricky question..
i feel a bit nerdy posting this 8)- but wanted to see what other peoples thoughts were :)

I know, this happens to much. Just take a breather.

On the question of what kind of game would you create:
"I'd make an FPS that takes place in Hell where in every level, each boss fight would be you against an evil historical figure." ~~Doodle-Boy1
Sadly, I am known for my anti-homework responses. It means I have to try and out do myself each time.

Perhaps I will go back to a more aristocratic aloof style response to these next...

Yes, I do think it is the result of evolution. Even lesser primates are highly social animals. I think it's a natural progression.

If by evolution you're specifically referring to the evolution of higher cognitive functions, then yes.

Evolution does not necessarily result in culture of course, as evidenced by almost every other living creature on the planet Earth.

Just take a minute, and really, really think about that...

Take a run on the wild side.
Culture helps us pass the time between doing it and lets us delude ourselves into thinking there's somehow more to life. In the very least it prevents us from knowing the true nature of the universe and killing ourselves.

So it goes.
