Am I the only person who feels that to mix politics and art is inartistic?
I don't mean, that an excellent drawing is bad, because it's political, but rather, to motivate your art because of political iniquity, to sell, is not artistic or ethical. If a nation commits genocide, then it's not artistic to sell a painting to empathize with the victims; it's artificial. If your brother got killed by a drunk police officer, unjustly, in my opinion it would be OK to paint a picture for him. But to turn and sell it, isn't that artificial? Art is subjective, so there is no basis for this topic in "truth", but rather opinion, so leave your thoughts, thanks:

You're gone, gone, gone, and I'm finally here, here here.
at closed minded pathetic person attempting to be intelligent I'd refrain from flaming, but you're not an artistic person anyway, so whatever Rot in hell, you conceited piece of trash

Why is it unethical, what if the artist actually had strong feelings about the subject matter?

Senator Stampingston: Dethklok has summoned a troll. General Kroiser: Thats impossible, theres no such thing as trolls. Stampingston: Then how do you explain the dead unicorns?

They just dislike how you people tear up the characters and have them anally ream each other for you to masturbate with your pocky sticks. ~sergeant-tinkles on Yaoi
If you think so lowly of them for flaming, why would you respond in kind? Just ignore people who post stuff that upsets you. Here they usually only do it for the reaction, so if you don't give them the reaction they stop.

I know it's sad I never gave a damn about the weather and it never gave a damn about me.
A brand new monthly article which showcases some of deviantART's finest equine artists, as well as recognizing the lesser-known but equally talented ones. Interviews, helpful tutorials and features can all be found here too! I hope you enjoy it.
The idea of this contest is to set you up completely blind with a mythical being - from any world culture - and turn you loose to come up with a deviation based around it!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
I'm not an artist or anything, that's just when it started to get irritating.
