Makes sense for there to be magical disabilities.

true, but even those with disabilities can succeed in our world, Bethany Hamilton anyone? just off the top of my head, there are many stories about those with disabilities who succeed at amazing things, that one guy who can play the guitar with his feet cause he has no arms... dunno, just thinking aloud.

Sure. But another theme of the Harry Potter books is a really fucked up political system that rewards privilege based on genealogy.

Isn't that the bad guys system? ...

It's also the system (outside of Hogwarts) that existed before Voldemort's defeat. The system that let known Death Eaters reach the highest echelons of society, that Let Lucius Malfoy keep the Minister for Magic at his beck and call.

Also sending people to a torturous prison guarded by the most evil creatures imaginable, and doing so without a trial, just on the basis of what it looked like. This in a world of magic where you can literally make anything look like anything. I myself can name spells that could have been used to frame Sirius Black, but this very likely avenue was not explored in the slightest. Prior to Shacklebolt's reformations the Ministry of Magic did nought but see-saw between incompetence and open malice.

Hmmmm, hadn't thought of that, very true. I have had so many ideas in my head to expand on the Harry Potter universe. I had this idea of like a squib who's parents were murdered by dark wizards and so he views all magic users as evil and rises up and trains to become like this wizard slayer character. Somehow he would have to discover ways to deflect/make magic useless otherwise he would easily be overpower and killed by even the measliest of magic users. But then he would meet up with a good wizard/maybe fall in love with a good witch and realize that not all magic users are bad, then they would reveal the magic world with muggles to create like this union of magic and technology...

Course, I don't own any rights to the Harry Potter franchise and don't like writing fan fics cause my hard work would never pay off.

Another idea would be a trilogy of books about the overthrow or reform even further the Ministry of Magic, or something.
