Firstly! I have a Mac, so allow me to say: Rock on.

Now then... If you do not have OnyX, I highly recommend acquiring it. It's a fantastic utility that I've been using on my macs for about 8 years.

In my experience of computer slowing down-ness, the Permissions get whacked over time. It just happens. OnyX corrects permissions, and their paths, and all that fun stuff. O u O

Also check your drivers.

And tell me how many programs you run at once, and what programs they are. Which kind of mac and so on. Then I can halp moar.

I hope you don't get any assholes hackling you. ¬ ¬ I know the PC/Mac wars all too well.

Yeah, ugh.. the Mac vs PC babble drives me mad. I know - you don't like Macs. I get it. Doesn't change that I like mine. I have no issue with your PC. Bah.

I'll most def take a look into OnyX and see if it helps! Thank you for the suggestion, here's hoping. ; w ;

I usually have 3-4 programs running at once.

It varies.

Usually a mix of the below ( *= Always open ):
Chrome* - Skype* - Photoshop / World of Warcraft - Safari for Netflix (rarely.) - And the Mac 'stickies' program for homework/notes. *
Never WoW + Photoshop, it's either or

OnyX should take care of a lot of it, and also HALP with cleaning up your HD, like temporary files and what not. Good stuff.

I can tell you for certain right nao, that Photoshop sucks up the most memory - you know this, too. It's a heavy program. I won't tell which ones you should STOP USING while working in PS, just tell you what I gotta do with mine:
My Macbook Pro is like... a year old, with 700-somethin' GB HD blah blah blah, and I usually run Photoshop & iTunes. And sometimes, Skype. If I need to browse something on Chrome, I'll open it, then quit it when I'm done. This is mostly because of the heat - it makes a slight noise that sounds like LIFT OFF. So we joke and say my Mac has joined the Space Program, and I'll ask my friends if they'd like a shipment of Lunar dust. 8D Ah, I ramble...

Anyway! I am confident OnyX will take care of most of it! But your Mac is trying to let you know that you is WORKING A LOT OF STUFF and it's le tired. XD

(And WoW. Omg. You run that on its own, I hope. Such a processor HOG.)

xD Yes I usually run WoW on it's own, well, skype in the background but not actively using it..

I can't download it ; A ;! I have to figure out how to update my mac again from .7 to .8, i updated the software but it's not updating to .8... skdskfjsdlkgdg

Omfg my laptop does that lift-off sound, but it does it for hours on end. It's so obnoxious -flop-

Baaahahahaaa! Perhaps yours and mine can exchange Lunar dusts! I ran zBrush last night and started building a clay model - my macbook visited a galaxy outside our own. Exotic Lunar dust! XD

Well, shit. a;slkdfj Your mac is in a mood! Pet it and coo at it, see if that helps. rofl......

(Skype being open is still taxing something) QUIT ALL THE THINGS. lol Oh, WoW. I switched it to my PC so it wouldn't eat up my Mac. lol I just get really finicky. I draw and write on this machine (and if we're being honest) any program that was made by Microsoft, runs like ass on my Mac. Word is SO erratic and slow. Even PC fonts in Photoshop are laggy. ARRRRGH. B(

l-lmfao.. maybe they were communicating

I love my Mac to death but sometimes the programs can be so frustrating ; o ;....

I talk to mine frequently. And yeah, I understand the loving to death... I love my last one to death. It was an iBook G4. XD Battery pack died. Had to replace it once, then went through two AC adapters. Technically the thing still runs, but it lacks a power supplier. Sad, really. It was a good beast. Feels like a brick when I pick it up sometimes.

;aslkdjf Feels good to talk to someone else other than my best friend about MAAAAAAAAACS. ;A; Sorry I clogged your thread, though.

I'll forever cry if one of my computers actually dies on me. I don't think I could handle the information loss, sdksjlfsdfs
