It would have been a comfortable distance to go by bike, I think... if I had a bike. 
Would have taken too long by foot, I think. That said, at least I was able to avoid the weather in my car. 
I can pick up small bits of shopping in town by foot generally but if I have to go to a supermarket, it's the next town over.
