Well, I was watching the news and saw this => [link]

It is a girl on brazil selling her virginity, someone already offered $35,000 :omg: She is following the example of a girl in Australia.

The world is going bananas :nirvana:

She is not even that attractive

Do you think the love for money, and poverty will end turning us all into merchandise for sale? :(
saxeh's avatar
Pffft , in china they can fix a fake virginity only for $700 .
catluvr2's avatar
It was actually another girl from Brazil, not an Australian girl. The other girl was using an Australian website.
And it's sad that it would have to come to that.
metalhartrockandroll's avatar
Uh, fucking virgins is the worst. They don't know what they're doing and they be broken in like leather shoes and they're all like "This hurts, why do people do this?"
UnknownSingularity's avatar
because they enjoy hurting little girls for the first time :|
drachenmagier's avatar
Uhm... I will never see the problem there.

I mean, prostitutes are not scum or something like that. They just do their job. Quite an honorable one, too. And as long as there are buyers, there will always be someone who sells. And let's be honest: Everybody would do that, it just depends on the price. Maybe not for USD 35 000 (even though that's already quite a lot of money!), but for other things. *shrugs*

But I guess that's just my way of seeing the world.
UnknownSingularity's avatar
A lot of people think like you.
drachenmagier's avatar
Really? I skimmed the thread and most seem to think that she's just a whore in the negative way of the word.
IllusriArt's avatar
I'm not usually one for slut-shaming ans stuff, and I believe anyone can do what they want with their body, ut this time, I have to say it - Whores will be whores :iconlll-plz:
UnknownSingularity's avatar
and there are lots of them :omg:
Koppkaka's avatar
Well, some people have sex with female children before they turn 3, cause when they grow up their body will grow "virgin" again and then it doesn't count. And some doctors offer surgery that makes you virgin-like again (often used by prostitutes). This really doesn't surprise me.
UnknownSingularity's avatar
Why would a prostitute pay to be a virgin? :ohnoes:
Koppkaka's avatar
Cause guys like taking viginities. Why would someone bet such a high price for her viginity if they didn't actually want it? I don't really get why, but it's the way the world works. .u.
UnknownSingularity's avatar
People are messed up
krissygalaxis's avatar
I'm done. Fuck you Earth.
deviant-garde's avatar
I wonder how many people even watched the god damn video, and realize that the girl did it because she was desperate for money under the weight of her very difficult home situation and being unable to provide for the mother she has to take care of whose stroke has left her unable to even feed herself and go to the bathroom alone.
UnknownSingularity's avatar
I think most people are afraid to click on a link :fear:

My bet is only 10% watched the video :bucktooth: The other 90% are very opinionated :slow:
eperlekvar's avatar
kinda disgusting.. virginity should belong to a person we love, not to a stranger...
but whores always existed..
UnknownSingularity's avatar
and will continue to exist

Money and power corrupt :omg:
carusmm's avatar
A whore is a whore.
ethanoI's avatar
Isn't that sort of like prostitution with fresh crop?
UnknownSingularity's avatar
I think :bucktooth: but apparently legal
ethanoI's avatar
I never knew prostitution wasn't legal
UnknownSingularity's avatar
Maybe it is in your country
ethanoI's avatar
It isn't in yours?
UnknownSingularity's avatar
It is legal in canada  but it is a bit strange. It is based on the grounds of adult's freedom to engage in sexual relations. People don't pay for sex. Prostitutes are called escorts. They are hired to be companions. They are not hired for sex. Does that makes sense? ^^; that is the law in Canada.
ethanoI's avatar
I see
Well, to me it's just another employment option that's out there

Selling virginity has been around practically forever.
Somnusvorus's avatar
Well, it's not really a nice way to think about your first time. Some jerk is just going to do you right then and there without having to get you all ready, or else it will hurt a lot. My first time was hilarious but I'm not going to say much about it. =P
UnknownSingularity's avatar
I know, it is a weird situation to be your first time. However, love for money makes everything possible
Somnusvorus's avatar
I like money, but I do have very high standards so I wouldn't even dare harm my diginity like that. Also, even if I didn't have a boyfriend, I wouldn't sleep around due to the risks of getting an STD.
UnknownSingularity's avatar
You have to keep an eye on your boyfriend  many innocent women are infected by their unfaithful husbands and boyfriends :ohnoes:
Somnusvorus's avatar
Ah, he's grand. He tends to be extremely picky when it comes to people. =3

He doesn't really drink either because it gives him a hangover without the drunk part of it. Doesn't take drugs either apart from the odd joint now and then, even that's rare. =B

Honestly I have no problem with prostitution when it's not associated with other crime. We ultimately sell ourselves in one way or another with every career we choose anyway. I just wish the 1 million annual victims of human trafficking could be saved by something, making it illegal is clearly inefficient, sadly even regulated globally legalized prostitution will always be involved with trafficking. As for the specific example, it doesn't bother me in the slightest, the only thing that does bother me as that it attaches a specific value to teenage girls, and that's something I can't really see a good outcome from.
UnknownSingularity's avatar
Specially when teenagers are money hungry
TheArtOfCBYoung's avatar
I'm not bothered by the fact that a woman of legal age to consent to sexual activity getting paid to have sex. The video makes me a little but uncomfortable; it looks like she's just doing it out of desperation, and that squicks me out a little.
UnknownSingularity's avatar
Poverty drives people to do the unthinkable :fear:
h-irsch's avatar
I'm not surprised with anything in this world.
angelxxuan's avatar
for quite some time it was quite popular in Japan and a lot sold theirs for money they were going to need for future Geisha and other various reasons. I believe I read an article of a college woman who ebay her virginity for around a million or so. I'd be afraid of won that and the protection they might not want. the sickness of the world is never going to end until they end themselves. it's only going to get worse. if people want to sell their bodies then that's their choice I suppose, people accept same gender marriages and more than one wife, what's wrong with prostitution? it's just one more choice for the person/s in question.

LisaReyOfHope's avatar
Well I could take lessons, but there are no 12 yr old virgins to teach me anymore.
UnknownSingularity's avatar
Don't you remember your first time?
LisaReyOfHope's avatar
And it wasn't when I was 12, that's for sure.
UnknownSingularity's avatar
oh well, I guess shit happens
tdroid's avatar
I don't get it, but it is hardly a new thing under the sun. I mean, seems close to the daughters being married to another person earlier in human history and their virginity was seen as a part of that bargain.

As for the virginity part, I don't get that either. What about a person not having had sex before makes them special? I mean, I had hoped that we lived in a sexualy liberated enough time to not really care for such old fashioned ideas that have been used to repress women's sexuality for much of history, but judging by the fact that having a healthy sexual appetite still will make people brand a girl a "slut" I conclude that I have assumed too much.
UnknownSingularity's avatar
Some guys get a thrill of stealing someone's innocense
tdroid's avatar
Yeah, but that is the part I don't get. How does being a virgin make you innocent? I mean, do we have such a low opinion on sex that if women have had it they are not innocent anymore? Does it make you dirty somehow?
UnknownSingularity's avatar
Well, a first sexual experience is supposed to be memorable. Is one of those things you can do only once in your life time :slow:

After a few times, it turns into a whatever kind of thing, but I guess the first time is the border between being an innocent child and turning into a woman

What the hell do I know anyways?, I am not an expert on the issue :gallery:
tdroid's avatar
I have a feeling that anyone that claims that a child is innocent is deluding themselves. I was a child not too long ago and I remember that children are vicious little bastards who tries to force conformity or make them(other children) pay the consequences(like beating them up, taking their stuff, usual bullying stuff).

This view on being a virgin is just a cultural thing I think, and an outdated view at that.
UnknownSingularity's avatar
As you said it is a cultural thing. There are cultures like the extreme muslims and Christians, that over protect children. Kids growing up in these environments see sexuality as a sin.
tdroid's avatar
Their own fault and not something I will ever accept as a part of my values. Sadly, these values are still in even more secular societies because they have been a part of the culture for so long.

What I don't get is why anyone would pay to have sex with a virgin. It's like... they've never done it before - meaning, they are probably a terrible lay... and I don't know, I'm not one to pay for sex, but if I was to throw $35,000 on it, I'd get the best whore I could find, not a virgin.
UnknownSingularity's avatar
A high class hooker in Canada charges like 500 an hour. I guess 35000 gives you 70 dates, and a few stds :slow:
Endeavor-To-Freefall's avatar
It's all about ego really, being the first one to conquer the land so to speak. For the people who seek it the rush of taking someones virginity is so much of a mental boost that it doesn't matter if she's good, they will enjoy it either way.
tdroid's avatar
Yeah, if I were to waste that much money on it I would go for the professional who can please me in ways I haven't even imagined rather than someone who have no experience at all.
deVere's avatar
Why not, if she can make few bucks? If she'd been attractive, she'd have done the same, but called it a date.
tdroid's avatar
I agree there. No reason she shouldn't do it at all.
deVere's avatar
I believe that it's every person's right to make that kind of decision. And there's some strange kind of honesty to this - many would moralize over it and actually do pretty much the same thing indirectly, but without saying it.
tdroid's avatar
Of course, everyone has a right to this kind of decision and it is nice to see the honesty about you mention for a change.

I do have a problem with the underlying cultural view of sex and innocence, but that is a debate for another time.
MisterTurtle's avatar
Not really a trend when two people do it.
UnknownSingularity's avatar
There are more unpublicized cases
MisterTurtle's avatar
Well, honestly I don't care.

I'd much rather earn the loss of my virginity through romantic conquest.

Selling your virginity has been going on in history since...the dawn of time. An example that immediately comes to mind is mizuage, where Japanese females would sell to men the right to be their "first".
RiseofGreenBean's avatar
mizuage made me think of Memoirs of a Geisha. The movie was ok, but I didn't want to watch that scene again. :stare:
Cup-of-Javo's avatar
Oh gosh, I've only read the book! What happens? :la:
RiseofGreenBean's avatar
I only remember the part in the movie where the doctor is undressing Sayuri (main character's name?).

I've only seen the movie. My friend, who has read the book and seen the movie, says that a lot of the 'explicit' stuff in the book isn't covered in the movie (thank goodness for that).
