bahaha, I couldn't figure out why nothing was coming to mind but this is totally it :slow: teenagers didn't fuckin' exist until like the 1900s!

Just like how Tweens didn't exist until 2009. :B

Tweens is a thing that needs to die out. Now.
Rovanna's avatar
Yeah, I dun like it. :B They should still be kids at that age.

It bothers me because it's supposed to be a transitional stage into a transitional stage. You don't transition into a transition, god damn it!

Does this mean I have to stop celebrating Christmas Eve Eve? :sniff:
Lovely-Words's avatar
I'd be more inclined to say yes if Christmas wasn't already trying to swallow every other holiday up.
DamonWakes's avatar
I suppose I could start celebrating Burns Night Eve, just to balance things out...

But at least when people are like, "Don't complain about tweens. You were one after all." we can be like, "No! I was never a tween because they weren't invented yet!" :evillaugh:

I can't wait till someone says that to me.

:giggle: This is a good point!

The term "teenagers" is actually 1920's slang. That was the time when people were much more able to enjoy luxuries and the middle class was growing so there were more children able to enjoy the transitional stages between childhood and adulthood more freely. Something most people don't understand when talking about anything before the 1900s.

See, this is why people don't do research: you do it for them!

It slipped my mind before, but I'm remembering things about the development of the leisure class in a post-Industrial Revolution setting :dummy:
Lovely-Words's avatar
I try not to. Hell, I was telling the OP to do research.

:giggle: Still, people take the forums as truth. Because we're that much safer than Wikipedia.

Never mind all the horrific advice that likes to crop up on a regular basis. I think there should be a disclaimer in this forum that says "We are not Google".

I think that advice is supposed to exist inside people's brains. :B
