Free tutorials preferred, but I really want to know if you are learning how to do an animation yourself (3D or any other kind of animation), what are the best sources?
Your help is greatly appreciated!!!
I'd recommend this site, it's got just about everything you could possibly want to know about animation, and probably more. [link]

It probably won't help at all for Blender animation, but for hand drawn or painted it's going tons of info.

Thanks! even though I'm trying to learn 3D animation but it's still a really interesting site! and most hand drawn animation principles apply to 3D as well.

Digital Tutors is the best place to go for tutorials on anything 3D. - but it does cost money, it is absolutely and entirely worth it, you will not find anything better anywhere else.

Thank you, are you also into animation ?

Yes, although I don't specify in animation, I am a 3D modeler for animation and video games, so I work with animators all the time for projects. Haha, there is also a great site for animators to post their work and get a lot of feedback from the animator community - [link] they have like, monthly animation challenges and tutorials by artists. :)

Cool! do you have any of your 3D pieces online XD?
That's an awesome site! Though I've already spent the whole afternoon doing nothing but watching contest pieces...

aye, I do- I have a website - [link] I've also got an oldish deviantart account [link] which I haven't uploaded much to it that is recent, though. ;_;

what software do you use to model these? and do you paint most of your texture yourself? Your 3D models are much more detailed than what I can do right now, *jealous jealous* >.<

Haha, thank you so much! :) Well, I went to school and everything, but this is certainly the type of stuff you can learn without schooling too! :) just lots of tutorials! Many tutorials are on Youtube, but some are better than others.

[link] Cgsociety and cgtalk are great places to talk to fellow 3d modelers and animators and the such, to get help on your work or if you want inspiration.

I used '3D Autodesk Maya', to model all of these. And for a few items, I modeled and then sent into a program called 'Zbrush', which is basically like computer clay sculpting.

There are other programs you can use to model - another program is called '3DS Max'.

But yeah, Maya is a wonderful program to Animate in! :D I hope I helped!
