Thank you! I can't speak for how effective I am at it, but I also try to draw monster girls that are monsters first and foremost. It's really nice to find someone else like me.
That's kind of the design philosophy behind how I draw my monster girls too! When I design one of my parasite monmusu, the guideline I keep in the back of my mind is: "She might look cute, but let's not forget, she is a *monster*." I think you managed to do that quite well!
Thank you, I really appreciate it. I confess, my longterm goal is to de-pigeonhole monster girls as a fetish. I really like some of Kenkou Cross' designs and I think MonMusu has some really funny/clever moments, but I'm not crazy about the culture they created : x
Yeah, funnily enough most of the people who follow my work online have no familiarity with all the MonMusu material by the likes of Kenkou Cross and Okayado so when I started drawing my Parasite Monster Girls, they just mostly went "Oh, that's neat!" and because my designs are not heavily sexualised, they have no prior idea about monster girls being a fetish thing for some people.
I have to confess, the MonMusu anime was what got me into monster girls, though I wasn't all that into the fanservice stuff in it - I mean, I find some of the fanservice moments funny (& it is often played for laughs), but it does make me a bit reluctant/embarrassed about telling people about the series (and monster girls in general - I tweet about my feelings on the matter here: twitter.com/The_Episiarch/stat…).
As for Kenkou Cross' monster girls...well, the English version of Monster Girl Encyclopaedia came out just the other week and I swear I would have bought it in a heart beat - if not for all the graphic description of monster girl sex within its pages - like WOW. And when you mix that setting with some of K Cross' loli-looking designs - Nope nope NOPE.
So yes, I'm a fellow fan of monster girls and also very much want to see more fun and non-sexualised depiction of monster girls!

It's not that I have a problem with the erotica per se, and in fact some of Kenkou's designs (f.e. the Bicorn) are especially clever and generally well-composed. The problem is that when you go with that approach people will fixate on the monster girls' human bits at the expense of everything else. And that kind of... defeats the whole purpose, you know? It gets to the point it's an obstacle in designing "realistic" monsters, like how Okayado didn't give Papi tailfeathers to better show her butt.
But all that said, I do very much relate on what specifically drew you to monster girls in the first place. Heck, I thought I was the only one : x

To each their own I guess, I don't really have an issue with sexualised depiction of monmusu per se, and if there's one thing I've learned from the internet is that if it exists, someone has sexualised it. As such I actually quite like some of the MGE design, and even some of those graphic descriptions of monster girl sexuality are rather creative in their own way - so I'm fine with the fact that it exists, it's just not something I'd like to have laying around in my house.
I totally get the issue of the monster girl design that veer from the monster girl being depicted as monsters towards emphasis on the character's human-looking bits, in fact one of my pet peeves is when a monmusu character simply looks like someone dressed up in simple cosplay. I'm not into those designs myself so I generally ignore materials like that. Those designs with only superficial monstrous features exist for a certain audience, and I'm not that audience, so naturally I (and other like-minded folks) will simply gravitate towards things that are different.
At the end of the day, what I'd really like to see in monster girls design is diversity - those who wants to treat monster girl as a fetish thing can (and will) keep doing so, but the rest us will continue to be driven by our own artistic sensibilities.

Diversity is great in the scope of world-building, but I believe it's even more important to capture the spirit of the monster. As one who tends to focus on the spirit of things beyond the visuals, I feel that quite strongly.
