I just point out the harsh reality
and try and educate the job posters where I can.
But on the side its also to educate other inexperienced designers.
I guess the reality of it is, most wont listen because they're desperate for any money, or getting their foot in the door of the industry.
For some the real job is portfolio work and the money is just a bonus.
Its only ever established designers that seem to point out budget issues because we've been there. I got burnt a lot by clients early on in my career.
I guess the compulsion is due to not wanting the same for others and trying to stop DA from becoming a slave labor camp. But I think its a bit late for that.
Clients just make guesses on what's an appropriate price based on what other jobs post and more importantly what other designers/artists are willing to accept.
I dont blame the clients, its us that set the expectation.
I blame the fact that the jobs board is filled with a mix of professionals but also a larger amount of kids,hobbyists and countries of extreamly low income. This all contributes to killing the job market on DA.
This is why I never offer to do work on DA.

Yeah you're right, the problem is that it's a mix of artists including ones that are willing to accept little to no pay for their work for whatever reason. Makes it incredibly hard to land a job that offers a decent amount. But I almost find it easiest to land jobs here even after that. It's really tough I find to even be given a chance on sites like Elance.
Ah well, it is how it is... I just wish DA would make a job board dedicated to professionals at the very least. If it gets overrun with little kids it gets overrun, but it might be better than lumping us all together.
