Im originally from Yemen ( never been there before tho and have no proof of that either really aka no passport)..but there was this civil war thing and my family got kicked outta the country and so the saudis were nice enough to give us like nationalities n money n houses n shit lol
I just moved here this september. I lived in Egypt for 9yrs and was born n raised in Virginia the furst 9yrs of my life.
wow..you didnt wanna know all that but yeah..it just really is complicated heh

Interesting..yeah, I did want to know all that.... Virginia to Egypt huh? I had family that went from Georgia to Egypt.. Lived there several years. I am American but grew up in St Louis, MO and South Korea... then when I was about 14 we moved to California. I think I had more culture shock from Missouri to California than from Missouri to Korea. That's good you were fortunate enough to end up in Saudi, it's better than alot of places you could go. Too bad that you had to at all, though. How do you identify yourself? Do you say I am from Yemen, or do you say I am American, or Egyptian?

lol wow thats a good question..
As stupid as it sounds..it usually depends on my mood and the situation.
Like sometimes the situation calls for being an egyptian ( while I was livin in Egypt) ex: Egyptians get into museums for cheaper.
Sometimes I have to be American (in america) for safety..for legal shit..
And in saudi Im saudi..cause of legal shit too..
I usually like to say Im from Yemen tho, as much as I can..even tho I dont know shit about the country and never been there..but yeah I usually have the chance to explain my situation so people dont get too confused as to why I speak so many different arabic accents and why my English is pretty good and why im so 'americanized' heh

lol yeah i can relate to the whole culture shock thing..I got a HUGE culture shock when I moved from virginia to egypt...I mean from america to a third world country...was crazy. I mean Egypt was great but its really polluted n overcrowded and poor. I also got a pretty crazy culture shock when I moved to saudi since its WAY-HAY more conservative than Egypt...I mean with the whole ninja outfit thing, well actually you dont HAVE TO wear the whole scarf n face coverin thing but the black dress is pretty much a must. Also like women cant drive in saudi which SUCKS cause like..I was supposed to get my drivers liscence this year *pout* yeah..
we got some pretty awesome malls here in saudi tho..and they have AWESOME arts n crafts store compared to Egypt so yep thats a good thing *thinks positive* hehe
