Hi! I'm trying to buy a tablet for drawing and I noticed you said in your FAQ's section that you use a Wacom Intuos Pro one. When you draw on it, does the art shows up on the tablet itself?

The last tablet I had, the art only showed up on the computer, not the tablet...the tablet's screen was basically blank white so I couldn't make corrections without severely messing up :XD: ^^; so I'm trying to find one where I can see the art on the tablet's screen (IF that's even possible)

Sorry to be a bother! I know you're busy

Hi!
The Wacom Intuos tablet I use is just a regular one where your drawing only shows up on the computer screen. I think that what you're looking for then is a Wacom Cintiq..? They're like big (or small) computer screens that you can draw directly on with the pen that comes with it :) They're way more expensive than the regular drawing tablets, but the Cintiq ones come in different sizes and with different specs, so there are different options depending on how much you want to spend.
Another option, is a machine that I would just love to have, but the one I want is way too expensive for me.. but that's the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 (with i7 processor and 512 GB harddrive). That little beauty is a combined computer/tablet thing! It's like a regular tablet (not drawing tablet, but more like iPads and stuff, you know?) in size and looks, but it's actually a fully functional computer! I'm in love with this machine, but what really made me want one is how you get a pen with it that allows you to draw on it, the same way you do with a Wacom Cintiq, only better in my opinion. The pen is pressure sensitive, and since this tablet thingy is in fact a computer as well, you can install Sai, Photoshop, Manga Studio, you name it! And even art apps from app store! It's not a big machine, though. I think it's 12" if I remember correctly, so if you're looking for a large art tablet where you draw on the screen, I'd recommend getting a Cintiq. Personally though, as said, I'm totally in love with the Microsoft Surface Pro 3.. ;) Too bad the one with the specs I want cost over 2600 dollars... At least here in Norway they're that pricy.. ^^;
for now, though, I'm very happy with my Wacom Intuos Pro regular drawing tablet ;) but I too would probably prefer being able to draw directly on the screen like you want to :) So either a 24" Cintiq or that Microsoft tablet I mentioned would be ideal, for me at least. Either one of those would be a great thing to have and to draw on :D
If they're too pricy (which for me they are) there's always the option of buying a used one from a private seller. Here in Norway we have a website called Finn.no, which is similar to Craigslist I believe. I bet you can find some on sites like that :)
But check out the Cintiq models, find some YouTube videos where you can watch them in action, and if you like them and can afford one then I would recommend getting one, as they sound like just what you're looking for.
I hope this was somewhat helpful :)
Thanks for your comment! (and sorry for babbling.. :XD: )

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply back!

the surface pro sounds awfully expensive, but hopefully I can save up and get it by the time I'm finished with college :D That sounds like paradise, to be honest. And they say money can't buy happiness. :XD:

I also found a tablet which is made by the same company as your Wacom Intuos Pro I believe. It's called Intuos Creative Stylus, but I'll look into the Cintiq and see which may be a better option.

Again, thank you so much! I'm tired of sticking with paper and I always loved the look of digital art, but I'm horrible when it comes to drawing with a mouse ^^;

Best of luck towards writing the rest of your Spike novel! You're a wonderful artist and writer :)

Hi, there are other lower cost tablet models. In the past, alternate brands weren't that great, but more recently, brands on par with Wacom have been coming out. Huion makes the GT-190, a pen tablet monitor. It costs about $600 including shipping. There is also another one by Monoprice for under $400. Ray Frenden, a guy who reviews graphics tablets, posted a review of the Monoprice. There are a few others as well. (And if you're looking for low cost software, you can use Krita, which is free.)
