how do you maintain the strong definition line when drawing semi realism? i find that rly hard to do :P

Huh, I don't think that's entirely intentional. I usually work over loose sketches, though I'm trying to use more defined line work when I can. When I render a drawing, I often redraw the lines a lot, adjusting them slightly or going between whether I even want lines or not. I don't really have a solid process yet, though. :X

Okay so as I'm drawing right now, I'm noticing something that makes lines feel more "natural" in my style. I'm using the airbrush at a really small size, like 3px. I'm treating those airbrush strokes like pencil lines, and 'shading' with them, making areas in shadow have a darker line. Before, I usually tried to paint over my hard-edged lines, which would result in a similar look (but a bit messier and chunkier because I've never been that thorough). So uhm, give the airbrush a try for reinforcing line work. I'll try to make a tutorial at some point that will address stuff like that!

Let me know how it goes! I'm still getting used to it myself. 100% flow and 100% opacity, by the way, if you're in Photoshop-- lets you keep a hard edge at the point.

I'm mostly using Manga Studio right now, and I think the airbrush in that and SAI are basically the same. They feel very similar as far as programs go, but Manga Studio is like SAI ate a whole bunch of Photoshop versions, haha. The program is really cheap, too, if you were looking for something new to try. I know it was on sale for like $15 the other week, crazy ridiculous for the all-inclusive program. (It even makes vector type for lettering, which I don't think even Photoshop does yet!)
