Did I misspell 'realism'? I may have. Opps. But if I have not, realism is taking a cartoon character and making them look realistic as if they were in real life and living/breathing person or creature walking the streets of the real world. Or painting a fantasy person or creature and making it look photo realistic. (ie: Jonathon E. Bowser, he paints natural mystism as he puts it, but it's also called realism. Making something fake and fantasy like look real as if it's jumping off the page to say hi.)
