oh hi! sorry i took so long to reply, i'm new so i'm kinda confused with comments and messages coming at me in all directions ;
the hair highlgihts on fuji? sure i can teach u ^^
ok, i use adobe photoshop 7 (5 and 6 work too i think), and:
1) choose a brown colour to be the base
2)paint bucket the whole hair sections with that brown
3) make a new layer (best if it's a transparent layer so everything else is visible through it)
4) take the paint brush and set it at about a medium to small size
5) choose white as ur colour
6) draw a broken line in the semi-circular shape that the highlights on anime characters tend to go in on top of the brown base
7) now choose the smudge tool, set it to about 60% capacity
8)smudge some parts up, some parts down, i tend to like ending it very pointy...i mean the jagged tops and bottoms of the highlights (not very good at explaining >.<
9) ok, once it's smudged, u have white highlights on the hair. some ppl leave it like that, i think that makes the highlights seem a little harsh/hard, so in the "layers" panel, in the drop down menu beside opacity i choose "Overlay" instead of normal.
10) this gives the highlights a bright brown colour (the base brown shows throw the white hence the bright brown)
11) so u duplicate the highlights layer. i make 2 duplicates usually for my pics, it's personal preference really ^^
12) out of the 3 duplicates, the very top layer i choose "normal" instead of "overlay" then i play around with the opacity of the layer and the middle layer until i get a highlight that i think looks good.
.....did all that make any sense at all? if it didn't just let me know and i'll write up a better one with screen caps so it's easier to understand ; i suck at explanations so badly, sorry! but don't hesitate to tell me that none of this made any sense at all ^^

Now it's time for August 2008 Visual Art Features, many new art to discover!
Don't forget that many artists need to be viewed, they deserve it! Fave Fave Fave! My main purpose in doing a monthly feature about (to my point of view) 'the best visual art' is to put in the same level as well wellknown artists and popular creations as unknown artists and under-exposed creations. Artists need to be supported. So don't be shy!
Here's the Menu per Category :
Digital Paintings & Drawings | Mixed Media | PhotoManipulations | 3-Dimensional | Vector & Vexels | Photography | Traditional Paintings & Drawings | Artisan Crafts
With a gallery that takes you on a journey into another world, `spyroteknik has firmly secured a place as one of the top artists within our community. Always willing to participate in events as well as providing critique and guidance to members in such a humble yet inspiring manner is a quality which deserves recognition. So it's with great pleasure that we award this month's Deviousness to Martin Bland. Read More
