Your membership requirements are a bit extreme. Why is it necessary to give your name, age and contact e-mail?? And why is it compulsory to put the avatar in a journal?? Bit too much methinks. Would've joined otherwise...
The name is so that we can call you by name, it's always good to have a personal touch!
The age is just for our records, sort of an ident for yourself .. to prove that your not just going to join, take part in competition, and leave.
The email is so that we can actually stay in contact with you. Naturally, it won't be shared, along with any of your other information.
The avatar in your journal is just an extension of what most people normally do with groups they're members of, it's to show you're loyal to the community, and in the end encourage more users to join in.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
