"Own world building"... That's cool. I never stopped my KH based stories. But I created a universe that's now only loosely based on KH. Only terms like The Organization, Keyblade or Heartless remain. The rest has become pretty sci-fi. I can see how your own world can push fandoms aside.

Cause the interactions man. The interactions. *MAKES HANDS* Writing them out is so much more satisfying than just drawing pretty pics of them. At least for me.
And you pretty much do a lot of world building, you just use a base inspiration. Well. We all do. My stuff is loosely old world stuff as opposed to sci-fi in example (but there is some in there, just very faint influences.) I spend MONTHS working on things nowadays. Race building. Custom animals. Plants are still a territory I'm hesitant to go into . But I've written religions, gods, magic styles, entire governments and world histories. It's crazy.
