Not to be one of THOSE people, but I do back up all my writing on google docs on a secondary email account I use. It is a nice way to keep it on your computer without it being ON YOUR COMPUTER. Just something I do.
I am so sorry for the loss of your piece though. Hopefully someone downloaded it and you can save it from the briny abyss of the internet. And there will always be THOSE people. They will have clicked on your piece for whatever reasons they do, by accident or on purpose to find something. The former will have a knee jerk reaction and report it, and the latter are usually just being words-that-aren't-polite. Then again, this is deviant art, if they expect everything the be butterflies and rainbows and fanfiction about Mary Sues, then they are in the wrong part of the internet.
I had an account on here a while back, I deleted it because of people being jerks. Trying again. Someone accused me of English not being my first language. Yep. No one ever reported my pieces though, then again I don't think I ever put anything in my pieces that could be legitimately reported. Very vanilla, I am.
Anyway, once again I am sorry for your loss. And I hope in the near future you feel safe again putting your pieces on here and gracing us with your awesome skill and imagination. I wish I knew a better site for content like this, but honestly most of them I are aware of are a bit too hardcore for me. Is that even the right set of words? Eh well. You know what I mean. I think some people post on tumblr, but tumblr confuses me. *gets out old person walker and shakes it at the children*
And thanks for the lovely comments on my page, I'll get to responding to them promptly. Because I have a need to respond to everything.
