Don't give up on trying to create your own story and improve your drawing style. Don't force yourself to get better. Maybe you should try tutorials and/or "how to draw" books. That's what I did all my life to get as far as I have. I'm still doing it to!
And try different styles. Try drawing still life and realism. Either you'll find out it's easier for you, or it'll look so bad, that you'll be proud of how far you've gotten in anime. That's what happened to me at least. We're all different.
