Does Anime attract mediocre artists due to the inherent simplicity of the style, or is Anime inherently so simple because so many mediocre artists insist on creating it?

I think it's a combination of both, y'know? Anime is a simple style to pick up and practice, but really beautiful results are gained with attention to detail and any other fundamental principle taught in other ways of drawing. Not with anorexic characters with random cat ears/tails.

It's all those mediocre artists that give anime a bad name...But some artists can do amazing things with the style. :]

On that note, I'd like to comment on your art...Great job, and keep up the good work. XD

Those are called 11 year old girls.
they even like gay-incest-raping scenes. that stuff is not supposed to be 'hawt' to people, incest and raping is really wrong and frowned upon in society.
i hate their damn spelling, l337, emoticon use, and overly used cat-neko ness..
god. but at the same time, i was SLIGHTLY offended. there is quite of few artists on here who lean toward the style of anime, but also incorporate realism into it. I also draw anime, but i've created my own style, trying to incorporate realism, with proper noses and proportional eyes and other body parts.
and not all anime is created in japan, just to let you know.
and your style actually, i would think, comes off as cartooney/anime. ....*smiles*

hey... although I really dont like Anime all that much... that post was an experiment. Someone said the best way to get page views is to make a post about how Anime sucks.. so far I'm up about 150 in 24 hours so I guess they might be right. It was also satirical, and its good to see somepeople like yourself can take a joke. I like your Spaceballs quote too.

You have a poor sense of proportion, volume, value, presence, composition, and style so you make fake controversy to get page views? That is sad as hell.

At the end of the day, you sign offline and it doesnt change the fact that your drawings are still what they are.
