Nope! I have no idea why people do, since that is assumption and assumption is wrong. Even so, I think everyone has freedom to create an OC however they want, no matter what other people think. It's your character, and if you want them to be an alicorn or a princess, then do it! Just do whatever makes you happy sweetheart
