to start uploading pics you go to submit, then choose DEVIATION and then you can choose a category, I usually choose
digital art
or traditional art
it depends if your drawing was made by hand or by computer
or photography, if it's a photo
I usually don't use the other section, but I suggest to read the descriptions that appears each time you tick the category
if you choose the category Scaps (that is down the "deviation" one) you mean to upload unfinished drawings and they won't be showed in your mainpage, but in another subcategory
if you choose deviant ID you can submitt a pic that will be always showed in your mainpage and usually it descrives who you are
desktop screenshot is for upload a screenshot of your PC and you can, as well, show it in the mainpage of your deviantart! ^_^
