How i did my rays:
-generate small clouds with high persistence
-sky size:10000
-altitude:200
-set medium/high density shift
-check clouds cast shadows

-mess around with the colors and get cool rays...

just download the "abduction" .tgw file off my website [link] (right click link and save target as)
