Well, there have been a few pageviews by now, so people have probably figured out that I have no artistic ability of my own and could easily be outdrawn by that guy who draws The Order of the Stick (obscure gaming reference, sorry). I am, however, an art addict and have been searching DeviantArt for art that fits my tastes for months. It's a bit embarrassing to realize only now that someone else might have similar tastes and appreciate not having to do all the effort I'm doing all over again.
I expect that as I add things on, there will eventually be a very large selection here of references to other people's high-quality fantasy art. I hope y'all aren't disappointed there's none of my own.
I will probably put an occasional art discussion here for anyone who is interested once I get used to how the system works. I'm a natural-born critic who really appreciates good art - an odd combination.
It was my pleasure - and really, thanks for the art! It takes a lot more effort and talent for you to draw it and get it right than for us to see it and realize you got it right!
Well, I'm definitely a newby - I missed how to reply to your thanking me and accidentally posted it to my discussion area instead (I think). Ah well. Thanks for posting such wonderful art!
One thing I am wondering is exactly what does it mean that someone is 'watched' by someone else, and how do you set it up?
And is there a set of directions somewhere that would let me find out things like that without bothering other people? I don't want to be a bother, but am not especially adept with computers and how to get them to do anything but crash. I'm pretty good at the getting them to crash part.
Lastly, I have only one or two things I have drawn of any value whatsoever, but it would be nice to give something back to the community. How do you get such things into Deviantart anyway?
Hrm - I have a friend who is a Deviant (not a deviant). Perhaps I should go bug her about it some weekend.
watching is a button found on the artist main page. it's called '+deviantWatch'. If you click on it you will be redirected to your 'friends' page. There you can change your watch settings of that person. You can also acces thet page by going here: message centre (messages)-> community messages ->My Account -> manage my friends
You can always look at the FAQ. Everything is explained there
You can add things to your gallery by clicking the 'submit' button. the rest is explained there. Did you ment that?
Looks like it worked! So, what does being watched do? (Aside from letting the person know that you're watching them and thus giving them a bad case of stage fright and an irresistable urge to break into a song-and-dance number, of course.) Do I get informed when you post some new art?
Ah well, the FAQ would definitely be useful. Unfortunately, I am sufficiently inept with computers that I don't seem to be able to find the FAQ.
